Policies and Guidelines



The Law Library is primarily meant for the faculty, students, and administrative staff of the college. These rules are framed to help and promote, rather than to constrain the use of library materials and services.
1. LIBRARY POLICIES:-

a. Library Rules:-
1) Identity proof is compulsory for entry in the Library. Upon production of Identity Card (1st-year students may produce Fee Receipt till issuance of Identity Cards), 2 (two) books will be issued to students for a period of 15 days. Upon request being made, the same books can be reissued further after 10 days.

2) Students who have borrowed books as aforesaid shall return the same on or before the due date of return that is a period of 15 days. Failure to do so will entail fine at the rate of Rs.5/- per day from 16th day.

3) If a student wants to re-issue the same book, he/she has to do it after 10 days. The same book can be issued by the student only two times in continuation, for issuing the same book there should be a gap of 10 days.     

4) Students should avail reading room facilities by submitting their Identity Cards (Fee receipt in case of 1st-year students till issuance of Identity Cards) and signing visitor’s register (Only in case of the book issued from the library). One book will be issued upon identity proof as aforesaid being produced for reading in the reading room and upon the said books being returned, and then their identity proofs will be returned.

b. Borrowing Entitlement:-
Ø  Books can be borrowed against student identity card issued to them by Library to the borrowers.
Ø  The library card is non-transferable and their loss should be immediately reported to the library. Although the library will take all possible care against the misuse of the library card, it is the holder of the library card who is responsible for any loss to the library due to the misuse of his/her library card. He/she will have to pay a fee of Rs. 50/- that is the charge for issuing a duplicate library card.
Ø  Library resources like references books, periodicals, and magazines are to be utilized within the library premise only.
Ø  Faculty members can borrow 50 books in 1 year.
Ø  Students can borrow 2 books at a time for 15 days.

c. Issue and Return:-
Ø  The borrower may return or renew the book on or before the due date. For renewing, the presentation of the material along with the library card is necessary. Renewal is not permitted if demand is pending for the material.
Ø  The library can recall material after 15 days of issue. Materials to be replaced on reserve can be recalled any time.
Ø  If a book is not returned to the library when due, the borrower will be fined Rs.5/- per day per book. Overdue fines can be paid in cash. The library can refuse to issue books to a borrower having overdue books.

d. Documents that cannot be borrowed:-
Books that cannot be borrowed:
Ø  Journals Bound Volumes, Loose issues of journals and the latest available issue of the magazines are to be referred within library premises, they are not available for issuing out.
Ø  Dissertations/Project Works submitted by ALC Students are not issuable. 

e. Loss or Mutilation of documents by the user:-

Ø  Library materials must be handled with care.
Ø  If a book is lost or mutilated (tear) beyond usable condition, the book has to be replaced with the same or latest edition of that book.
Ø  If the book is out of print, three times the cost of the book has to be paid to the library.
Ø  If the book is reported (in writing) as lost/ misplaced, the overdue charges are not levied in such case from the date of the report until the same is replaced(it must be resolved within two months)

a. Library Timing
         Ü  09:00 am to 02:30 pm for B.A;LL.B & B.B.A;LL.B Student
         Ü  02:00 pm to 07:00 pm for Grant- in- Aid Student on all working day.

b. General:-

Ø  While entering the library, readers shall leave their personal belongings, such as bags, briefcases, personal books, and parcels near the counter reserved for the same. However, they can carry their loose papers and notebooks.
Ø  Readers leaving the library should allow the library/security staff to examine their personal belongings on their departure time.
Ø  Readers should maintain silence in the library and shall not disturb other users in any way.
Ø  Readers shall not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library material in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he will be fine the full replacement cost of the material.

c. Inter-Library Loan:-

Inter-Library Loan functions on an institution-to-institution basis. The reference department arranges to borrow library materials for academic and research purposes from another library. The understanding between the participating institutions and the norms that such material lent out to the library should be used or referred to in the borrowing library's premises only.
